SLP Self-Care

If you're involved in your library's Summer Library Program, do you have a strategy to get through to August without burning out?

Whether you're in the midst of a four week, six week, ten week, twelve week or sixteen week program, Beth Saxton and Casey Chwiecko have SLP self-preservation advice for you over at the Teen Services Underground blog:

...summer can be one of the busiest and most stressful times of the year. In addition to managing the summer reading program and all its events, there are other things to contend with including staff shortages due to vacations, increases in visits and circulation, problems with unattended children, and staff negativity about all of the above.
It’s just like being on a plane when they tell you to secure your oxygen mask before helping others. You can’t do all you want to do for teens if you are running on empty.
